Each piece was individually scanned and color corrected and the color fidelity is incredible. The book is 30 pages and measures 8×10 inches. Available for purchase at $20 softcover, $35 for hardcover + $10 shipping. https://mikesorgatz.bigcartel.com/product/another-world-book

Gowanus Open Studios

gos2016-prints

Saturday and Sunday, October 15-16 from 12 to 6pm

TI Art Studios will be participating in next weekend’s Gowanus Open Studio event with over 60 artists opening their doors to the public, it’s a great opportunity to get a “behind the scenes” view of how and where an artist works. Each year I do a new series of prints, made by hand in my studio – that means no digital nothin’! This year I put together a collection of three different woodprints of flowers in 5 colors. My inspiration for this series came from an appreciation for the pleasures of looking and a need for simplicity and clarity. The fun and challenge of the prints was to work in a slightly different medium – woodcuts – and explore different uses of patterns. The simplified geometry of the various flowers create an interesting rhythm paired against the repeating patterns in the backgrounds. The prints measure 9×12 inches and are available for $50 each. Besides the prints I’ll have some paintings both finished and in progress to view. I look forward to seeing you!

SORGATZ_MINOTAUR-ON-5TH-AVE_2015_600PX

I’m very happy to announce my third and largest exhibition of 2015 – featuring 14 paintings, including 3 brand new large paintings from this year! It’s a great selection of my artwork and the venue, the lobby gallery of 1133 Sixth Avenue near Bryant Park, looks spectacular. The midtown area has been a source of many images I’ve used as the basis for my paintings, so it’s particularly rewarding to be able to show the work here.

Please join me for the reception on April 30th. If you can’t make the reception visitors are welcome during regular business hours but you need to register with the curator Janusz Jaworski at janusz@chashama.org to view the show.

About the Wine – Motley Cru

This silky, velvety red exhibits a savory nose with hints of olive, and continues to a core of juicy cherry fruit and spice on the palate. Round and soft with great acidity and fine tannins, it is very much a Rhone-like wine, with a medium body and the texture of a robust Pinot Noir. Petit Verdot provides a robust structure, an inky purple color, and powerful blackberry and black pepper notes, forming the foundation this complex wine. Cabernet Sauvignon lends red-fruited body, Syrah provides nessed spice, and Merlot rounds and softens the palate.

Truly a New York “cult” wine, Brooklyn Oenology’s Motley Cru is inspired by the face of Brooklyn – complex, with fantastic variety!

About the Show by Randall Harris
With only a few weeks before Figureworks takes a summer break for the month of August, it seems a great time to celebrate the diversity of its many talented artists. When various exhibitions close and my favorite works have remained unsold, I frequently hold on to them and display them in the salon-style back room or store them to show to interested clients. The works I have retained is getting quite heavy so I have made some selections to create this diverse and dynamic group show. There are works I was thrilled to revisit, including some pieces from my personal collection which I have been unable to enjoy over the years.

As it is the close of the season, this show will rotate as works are sold, so please stop sooner than later if there are pieces you regret not acquiring.

Here is a partial list of the 30+ works:
Jorge Alvarez, McWillie Chambers, Alexander Calder, Jennifer Delilah, Howard Eisman, Ingrid Capozzoli Flinn, Bonnie Faulkner, Matthew Greenway, Reina Gilson, Williams Gropper, Peter Krebs, Maho Kino, Richard Lindner, Arlene Morris, Rusel Parish, Joachim Marx, Meridith McNeal, Elim Mak, Arlene Morris, Susan Newmark, Audrey Rhoda, K. Saito, Michael Sorgatz, Jacqueline Schiffman, Raphael Soyer, Hermann Struck, Abraham Walkowitz, Cathrine Westergaard.

Figureworks is located at 168 North 6th St., Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY 11211, one block from the Bedford Avenue “L” train. The gallery is open to the public Saturday and Sunday from 1-6 PM and is dedicated to exhibiting contemporary and 20th century fine art of the human form.
